Crudine Ridge Quarries Project
ARDG's Crudine Ridge Quarries Project comprises 5 quarry sites that aim to supply the majority of construction materials for the development of the Crudine Ridge Wind Farm Project (CRWFP). The CRWFP is located in the NSW Central Tablelands, approximately 40 km south of Mudgee. The project extends over a 15 km linear distance from approximately 3 km southeast of the village of Pyramul, south to Hill End Road, approximately 5 km to the east of Sallys Flat. The project is being developed by CWP Renewables and will consist of 37 wind turbine generators, internal access roads and electrical reticulation, a substation, switching station and 15 km of 132 kV transmission line. The project commenced in mid-2018. Further information on this project can be accessed at www.crudineridgewindfarm.com.au
During late 2017, ARDG negotiated exclusive access to several landholdings close to the CRWFP, that covered geology considered prospective from a quarry raw materials perspective. Detailed resource and environmental assessment investigations were undertaken during late 2017 to early 2018. ARDG subsequently lodged three Quarry Development Applications with Mid-Western Regional Council and two with Bathurst Regional Council in mid-2018. Development approval has since been obtained for all quarries and quarry development commenced in August 2018.
The development of a number of quarries in close proximity to the CRWFP provides a number of key benefits, the most important being the removal of approximately 25,000 truck movements from the local and regional road network. The proposed quarries are located on rocky areas currently used for low intensity grazing, and have significant buffers to the nearest residences and environmentally sensitive areas. The results of the environmental impact assessments of the proposed quarries indicate that the quarry operations can be managed within acceptable environmental standards through the implementation of appropriate controls. These will be documented and implemented in Environmental Management Plans for each quarry operation.
ARDG looks forward to working with all stakeholders associated with the CRWFP to ensure that successful commercial and environmental outcomes are achieved.
