Damon is a qualified geologist and experienced resource project developer and manager. He has 30 years professional experience in the mineral exploration and metalliferous mining (gold/copper) and extractive/quarry industries, both within Australia and internationally (Fiji, Philippines, New Zealand). During the early part of his career, Damon gained extensive exploration and mine production experience across a wide variety of geological environments and mining projects, including Browns Creek, Lake Cowal, Northparkes and Cadia East. From 2004 - 2016 as a senior manager for Readymix (later Rinker Group and Holcim) he managed the resource and quarry development support function for Southeast Australia, before being appointed National Reserves Manager where he was responsible for the reserves management and quarry design requirements of over 50 active hard rock quarry and sand extraction operations. During his time with Readymix he was responsible for reviewing the reserves position of the Company and was instrumental in the discovery and evaluation of several significant new quarry resources including the Leongatha Quarry Extension, New Chiltern Quarry and Lynwood Lockyersleigh Granite Project. He was awarded the 2008 Outstanding Achievement in Operations Award for his contribution to the improvement in reserves management of the organisation. Damon is a Member of both the Institute of Quarrying (IQA) and Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) and is recognised as a ‘Competent Person’ for reporting of resources and reserves for a number of commodities under the JORC Code. He has acted as an ‘expert witness’ in legal hearings related to quarry development approval projects. |
